I always thought it would take a long time to cross things off my bucket list. But these past few years, I’ve realized it’s not just about having time. It’s about making time.
Tim and I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to travel so much in recent years, thanks to flight benefits with his job in the airline world — which means we are able to fly standby wherever there are open seats. We decided we wanted to start a travel blog this past summer, and spent a few months slowly piecing together our thoughts about many of our trips.
Little did I know when this all started, our adventures would be anything but ordinary. When I was introduced to non-rev travel, I wasn’t completed prepared for the gamble of going to the airport planning on one destination, only to end up somewhere different, or even just back at home in our living room. Though our travels, I’ve grown to love the thrill of being spontaneous as we try to see as much of this beautiful world as we can.
But we’ve found that with each trip, we’re trying so hard to make the most of our time, and squeeze in as many activities and sights as we can into a day or two, that we often don’t take as much time as we’d like to soak it all in.
That’s why we’ve decided to start this travel blog.
While we’re happy to be able to share our adventures with our family and friends, we’re also excited to be able to recall these trips and reminisce together about that certain amazing view or that particular incredible food we tried. We’re excited to be able to document these voyages and adventures in one place to look back on someday — to remember this crazy, spontaneous and fun time in our lives.
We’ll write about the times we travel around the United States, hop over to another country for the weekend or just spend an afternoon in small-town Minnesota.
While we’ve both written from time to time in some professional sense, we’ve never really shared stories about ourselves. It’s a bit scary, to be honest. But here it goes.
We’re so excited to share our travel blog: Sunny and Raining.
